Field Trip

Last Tuesday (May 29th) until the friday of the same week (1st June),that is, four days, my grade and I plus three teachers went to Brotas in the objectif of studying astronomy and seeing planets and stars. Brotas is a city located 300km from São Paulo and it is known for the practice of radical sports like rafting, abseiling and for beautiful waterfalls. We left São Paulo at eight o’clock and as we had a stop to buy a little snack we arrived there at midday.

We stayed 80% indoors in the center of sutdies of the universe (CEU) seeing movies about the universe and the seasons on earth, studying the time, lancing little rockets like real ones and in the planetarium which is a room with a round roof and where a machine shows us animations from the sky. I really liked the planetarium because the animations were very authentic and very fascinating. We were sitting in flexible chairs that linded back for a better view. We also fabricate a sundial and a star chart and then we looked throw the telescope and we saw Jupiter, Saturn, The Moon and some stars.
We also sutdied outdoor: We went to a distillery to examine how they make a traditional brazilian drink extract from the sugar cane called cachaça. It was very interesting because it is a very complex , difficult and lenghty process which I was very curious to know something about it. And later we obviously ate some sugar cane which I really like.
Unlike some of this activities, I didn’t like the food , specially the lunch. In all the meals we had pasta, meat, rice and beans but changing the type os pasta or meat every day.

Forunately ,for my luck we had not much, but enough leisure time in which we could choice to play soccer or to go to the pool. Since the days were cold and the nights were freezing I decided to play soccer with my friends. We were sleeping in a very nice camp called Peraltas so there was a lot of courts and a gym. In the last night there was a little party but it was not very cool.
In the last day we went and do some rafting with a very very cold water, before that we did some stretches and we divided ourselves in groups os five. This was my group:

Then we went to a little river to train the commands that the instructor gave us to finally go to the big river. It was really cool because there was a lot of waterfalls and I wet myself a lot so it was very funny.

We returnded to the camp, I had a shower and then we went to the bus to come back to Sao Paulo. We left there at 14 o’clock but we
only arrived here at 18 o’clock due the traffic.
It was a very cool trip and I will never forget it.
